Just Another Tequila Sunrise


Scene: Driving to Lowe’s in order to buy insulation in a patriotic attempt to defeat the terrorists and reduce my utilities bill. However, someone recently told me that the largest source of our petroleum imports is Canada. Is that who I’m fighting? I love Canadians, so I guess the terrorists win.

/Silence between Alex and I as we pass scenic vistas of Cascade foothills, Tamarack groves cutting yellow lines into the sea of fir and cedar.

/Me, breaking into song:

/Me, answering:

/Silence resumes.

/Me, glances over at Alex, who absentmindedly looks out the window. Breaks cautiously back into song:

I'm on a ride and I wanna get off but they won't slow down the roundabout
I sold the Renoir and the TV set don't wanna be aro…

/Alex interrupts with question:

Ven are our neighbors moving?

/Me, yelling:

OKAY, I KNOW WHAT YOU’RE DOING, VOMAN! KNOCK IT OFF AND LET ME SING, DAMN IT!
