I’ve been tagged by my emiga, Gladys. Of course, even though memes come here to die, that doesn’t mean that I dislike being tagged. In fact, I’m almost always flattered to the point of e-rection. I just worry that one day I will tag someone who doesn’t like to be tagged, and this is how I deal with rejection:
/cue wavy dream sequence
Brandon: surprise! I’ve decided to tag Alex!
Alex: VTF?!? You know I deeslike ven you tag me, you sonofveetch!
Brandon: But it’s cute! It’s like mullets! Ten years from now you’ll regret you never did a meme!
Alex: /mocks my voice Eet’s cuuute! Eet’s like moolits! Vlah-vlah-vlah! Go suck on meme!
Brandon: /shuts down blog forever and becomes 500% more productive at work, starts spending time with children, takes up a hobby, dies in freak paragliding accident
And THAT, my emigas, is why memes come here to die.
But I still like to do’em.
Instructions: The challenge: List five songs that you are currently digging - it doesn't matter what genre they are from, whether they have words, or even if they're not any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying right now. Post these instructions and the five songs (with artist) in your blog. Then tag five people to see what they're listening to.
1. Elliott Smith, Twilight
Alex makes fun of me when I sing this, because she thinks it sounds like I’m crying. I’m not. I’ve never cried a day in my life. Not even when I was born. Not even when I think about the pain that must have driven Elliott to stab himself in the heart, and the talent wasted, the life lost and the girl he wrote this song about.
Could y’all excuse me for a moment?
Because your candle burns too bright
Well, I almost forgot it was twilight
Even if I think that you are right
Well, I'm tired of being down, I got no fight
You're wonderful, when it's beautiful
But I'm already somebody's baby
And if I went with you I'd disappoint you too
Well, I'm already somebody's baby
2. Anabret, The Coming Night
Here’s another song that never made me cry, because I swore never to get sentimental about a dying father and redemption and how there still might be some decency left in this corner of the universe.
I’ll be back momentarily.
He won’t reach me on this side
Fly down the line
Fly down the line
The walls surrounding us are tightening
Like the plastic shell that’s covering his mouth
A chance to be right
Once more before the light dies down
Once more before he dies
Words can’t replace a lifetime
3. Death Cab for Cutie, Title and Registration
I can honestly say this song never made me cry, but it’s so well written that I probably would cry if I were drunk enough and if I did, in fact, have tear ducts. Which I don’t, cause I’m hardcore like that. Even if I did once have my heart broken by a girl who drove off to a better life without me.
I think someone’s at the door.
The glove compartment isn't accurately named
And everybody knows it.
So i'm proposing a swift orderly change.
Cause behind its door there's nothing to keep my fingers warm
And all i find are souvenirs from better times
Before the gleam of your taillights fading east
To find yourself a better life.
4. Gomez, Sweet Virginia
Don’t do it, Virginia! Go back to Gomez! Can’t you tell they love you?
if you know how to run
Sweet Virginia, you should run
if you know how to play
Sweet Virginia, you should play
if you know how to say
Sweet Virginia, you should say
if you know how to be
be without me, you should be
you should be
5. Eva Cassidy, Songbird
Oh, hell, I swore I wouldn’t do this.
For you there'll be no crying
For you the sun will be shining
Cause I feel that when I'm with you
It's alright, I know it's right
And the songbirds keep singing
Like they know the score
And I love you, I love you, I love you
Like never before
