I write grants, and am often asked, ‘What makes a good grant?’
It’s really not as complicated as people think. Anyone could be a successful grant writer by following these simple steps.
First, you need a really good title. Something funny, but not laughable. Clever, but not condescending.
You need a killer line. Something that will leave the reader thinking. One sentence that will stick in their mind for days. Weeks. Years.
I like to open with a quote. Journey lyrics are golden.
A nice photo doesn’t hurt. Photoshop to excess. I’ve had good luck with slugs.
Try to keep the whole thing to no longer than 3 paragraphs.
Understand when to use and when NOT to use tags.
And most importantly, name drop if at all possible. Link to a B-list blogger. They’ll secretly find you through Technorati. Even while they publicly disparage it.
Buy an expensive bottle of champagne.
Prepare to celebrate.
A Little Slow. On the Uptake.
